American citizen Onija Andrew Robinson, who traveled from the United States to Karachi for love, was discharged from Jinnah Hospital after receiving medical clearance.
A five-member medical board was formed to assess her health, and it declared her fit for travel to US.
Robinson, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was prescribed regular outpatient medications before being handed over to the police for further proceedings.
Prior to her discharge, it was reported that the US Consulate staff had convinced Robinson to return to the United States. Sources confirmed that the consulate had arranged a return ticket for her.
Robinson, a New York resident, had arrived in Karachi on October 11 on a one-month tourist visa, drawn by a romantic relationship with a local man.
Her visa expired on November 10, but she failed to leave Pakistan and remained in Karachi for several months.

When she attempted to enter Karachi’s airport in mid-January, security stopped her, and she was handed over to the Airport Security Force (ASF), then transferred to airport police.
On January 27, following intervention from the Sindh Governor, an Exit Permit was granted for 15 days. A welfare organization arranged her return ticket to the US, and efforts were made to send her back on January 29.
However, after completing all airport procedures, she refused to board the flight, complaining to the airline staff, which led to her being offloaded.
Despite efforts by officials to persuade her, Robinson took a taxi to the home of the man she had come to Karachi for, where she stayed in the parking lot of his apartment complex for several days.
Later, she was handed over to a welfare organisation, and after her health deteriorated, she was transferred to Jinnah Hospital, where she remained under tight security.
