A meteor lit up Karachi's sky on late Sunday night, The breathtaking spectacle was captured by many, and videos quickly flooded social media.
The meteor was observed passing over the city at 2:43 am.
According to astronomers, meteors are bright celestial bodies that enter Earth’s atmosphere due to gravitational pull while orbiting the sun. As they descend, they generate a dazzling display of light, earning them the common names "shooting stars" or "meteors."

The meteor’s vibrant glow created a spectacular sight in Karachi’s night sky, leaving citizens in awe. Many took to social media to express their delight at witnessing the rare phenomenon.

As they burn up upon entry, they produce stunning streaks of light before disintegrating or, in some cases, reaching the ground. These celestial fragments are also referred to as "rock meteors."
There are millions of meteors in orbit around Earth, many of which are commonly known as "shooting stars."
