10-year-old maid tortured to death in Lahore for not doing housework properly

Lahore police arrested a couple involved in torturing a minor maid to death for not properly completing household chores.

The incident occurred in Lahore’s Hanjarwal area, where the couple, identified as Nausheen and Farrukh, subjected the victim, 10-year-old Sonia, to severe torture, leaving her wounded.

The first information report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of the victim’s parents, stating that she sustained severe wounds due to the torture, but the owners did not take her to the hospital.

It was revealed that when Sonia attempted to inform her parents about her injuries during a phone call, the couple told them that she had only suffered a minor hand injury.

Subsequently, a relative of the minor maid went to the owner’s house at her mother's request and  witnessed Sonia being beaten severely.

“When we arrived in Lahore from Arifwala, we found her dead,” said her mother, adding, “She was killed for not doing domestic work properly.”

Appealing to the police for justice, the victim’s parents claimed that Sonia was not taken to the hospital despite her injuries.

The police registered a case against the couple under the Pakistan Penal Code section for murder.

Following a post-mortem examination, the remains of the victim were handed over to her heirs.

Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif asked the CCPO Lahore to submit a report on the case.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran stated that the police initiated an investigation and arrested both suspects. 

He confirmed that the 10-year-old maid Sonia worked in the house of Nausheen, and Farrukh Bashir and that police had been gathering information about the incident.
