As many as 220 beggars have been arrested on Karachi during 22 days of Ramadan, according to the Karachi commissioner.

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has emphasized the need to make the anti-begging campaign more effective, urging authorities to track down and take legal action against those who support and exploit professional beggars.

Highlighting concerns over the increasing number of beggars in markets ahead of Eid shopping rush, he directed law enforcement to take special measures to curb the issue.

The Commissioner instructed authorities to conduct operations with police assistance and ensure that arrested beggars are sent to shelters or NGOs instead of returning to the streets.
