CM congratulates Lahorites on safe Basant

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz congratulated Lahorites for ensuring full compliance with safety SOPs during the three-day Basant celebrations as she announced extending the celebrations for another five hours on Sunday.

The CM, in a message, praised the people for upholding the government’s trust. “I am happy that Lahoris lived up to our confidence. Lahore is very happy today, and so am I,” she said.

Ms Sharif said, "The citizens played an exemplary role in celebrating a safe Basant by abiding by rules and regulations in letter and spirit. She added that the concept of a joyous yet safe Basant was fully embraced across the city.

She said that there were no reports regarding the use of banned kites and strings beyond the approved size and material, and Basant was enjoyed safely on rooftops in accordance with the SOPs. Metallic strings were not used, and transformers across the capital also remained safe, she added.

The CM observed that preventive safety measures were effective on rooftops. He also said that the program of 'Safe Basant' would be extended to other cities after Lahore.

She also informed that 200 Clinics on Wheels and 21 field hospitals had been deployed across all areas, including Liberty Chowk and the Walled City.

In conclusion, the CM said, “Today is the last day of the Basant festival; I would once again ask citizens to exercise more caution.”

Meanwhile, on Basant's last day, the members of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order (CCLO) celebrated at the rooftop of Government Victoria Girls Higher Secondary School Mori Gate and praised the Lahori people and foreigners for enjoying Basant and making it safe by implementing all the SOPs.
