Karachi traffic accidents claim 182 lives in 2025 so far

Traffic accidents have claimed the lives of 182 people so far this year, while 2,211 individuals have been injured in Karachi.
Among the fatalities, 128 are men, 20 are women, 18 are boys, and 6 are girls. The injured included 1,844 men, 277 women, 66 boys, and 24 girls.
Heavy vehicles were responsible for 57 deaths in total.
In response to the rising number of accidents, a new department named "Karachi Road Accident Analysis" has been established.
Additional IG Karachi will formally announce the establishment of this special unit today.
The department will gather evidence from accident scenes, analyze causes, and submit reports and recommendations to relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Karachi traffic police collected fines amounting to over Rs1.33 billion for violations of motor vehicle laws over the past and current year.

During the operations, 22,925 fancy number plates were confiscated, while 2,208 green number plates were removed from various locations. Additionally, 1,139 pressure horns and 278 blue lights were also seized.
Karachi traffic police collected Rs 66.48 million in fines on fancy number plates and Rs3.01 million for using green number plates.
Furthermore, Rs11.39 million were collected for pressure horns and Rs.1.80 million for illegal blue lights usage in Karachi.
