Lahore: Armed man opens fire at cafe staff for protecting woman from harassment

In a brazen act of thuggery, an armed man opened fire on cafe staff after they intervened to protect a woman from harassment in Lahore's Johar Town.

CCTV footage of the incident, which went viral online, shows the restaurant staff confronting the suspect inside the cafe. An altercation ensued, following which the man pulled out a firearm and fired shots, injuring a security guard.

According to the police, the suspect and an accomplice arrived in a black Vigo with tinted windows and a fake number plate. A case was registered against them.

The Lahore Police Operations Wing confirmed that one of the accused, Ali Hassan, was arrested, while raids are underway to apprehend his accomplice, Fayyaz.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took strict notice of the incident and formed a special team to ensure the swift arrest of those involved.

He emphasised that hooliganism and the display of firearms will not be tolerated in Lahore, warning that anyone violating the law will face strict action.
