The victim of violence by VIP security personnel in Lahore stated that the guard who opened fire on him later fled, abandoning his weapons and vehicle. According to the police, a search for the suspects is ongoing.
A video of the incident at Dharmapura Beijing Underpass in Lahore went viral online, showing a private security guard from a motorcade opening fire at a man in a white shirt.
The man, identified as Imran, then stepped out of his car to confront the attackers and engaged in a physical brawl, after which the guard and his companions fled the scene.
The video sparked outrage on social media, with people condemning the security personnel’s reckless behavior and demanding strict action from the Punjab government against those responsible.
Following the incident, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran directed authorities to register a case against the suspects under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The victim of the assault later recorded a video statement, explaining that he was traveling from Raiwind Road to a market when he was intercepted at Canal Road. He alleged that a security guard from the VIP procession fired a gunshot at him, hitting the front of his car.
According to Imran, when he stepped out of his vehicle, the guard attempted to fire at him directly, but bystanders intervened and stopped him. A crowd gathered at the scene and recorded the incident on video.
Imran further stated that the guards fled, leaving behind their vehicle and weapons.
The Dolphin Force promptly arrived at the scene and seized three SMG rifles and three loaded magazines, which were placed under the custody of SHO Mughalpura and ASI Abdul Sattar.
Meanwhile, a special police team is actively working to apprehend the suspects, utilising Safe City cameras to track them down.
Additionally, DIG Operations ordered legal action against the security company employing the guards.
