Punjab man sentenced to 6 months in jail over second marriage

A man from Wazirabad was sentenced to six months in prison by a local court after his first wife filed a complaint that he contracted a second marriage without her permission.
According to the police, Ahmad Raza contracted a second marriage without the due permission of his first wife.
When his first wife learnt about his second marriage, she filed a complaint with the court. She told the court that she married Raza eight years ago and now they have two children together.

She told the court that Raza contracted the second marriage without her permission.
Taking action on the woman’s plea, the court sentenced Raza to six months in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on him.
The verdict was announced by Wazirabad Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Aslam Panjotha.
