In a tragic incident in Gujranwala, a man was reportedly tortured to death by his first wife and their son after the victim contracted a second marriage. The police have arrested the suspects.
The incident occurred in Gujranwala, where the police stated that the deceased, identified as Tariq's, second spouse had filed a complaint alleging that her husband was killed by his first wife and son.
The police said Tariq had remarried six months ago, and the revelation of his wedding enraged the suspects. They tortured Tariq by tying him with a rope and allegedly rubbed red chili powder in his eyes before strangling him to death.
According to the complainant, after killing the man, the suspect also attacked the residence of Tariq's second wife.
Following the filing of the First Information Report (FIR), police arrested the mother-son duo, who confessed to the crime during police interrogation.
The body of the deceased was recovered by the police after the accused were identified.
In another incident in Dera Ghazi Khan, a mother of four was allegedly killed by her husband. The alleged motive was a suspected relationship between the woman and a relative. This led to a quarrel between the couple, prompting the accused, Shahid, to take this extreme step.
However, cases of honor killings and polygamy continue to occur in Pakistan.
Earlier this month, a court in Karachi sentenced a woman, Asma, to life imprisonment for brutally killing her husband, Shah Zaman, by strangulation and electrocution.
She, in complicity with his paramour, Ghulam Nabi alias Deedar, committed the murder of her husband
