FAISALABAD: The City Traffic Police have initiated an operation against transporters overcharging passengers before the festival of Eidul Azha by deploying special squads for checking buses and other vehicles throughout the city.
They said strict action would be taken against overloaded passenger transporters, adding that passengers should lodge their complaints on the helpline number of the Traffic Police. They also said awareness campaigns were being organized in all important transportation centers about the rights of passengers.
The Traffic Police said that no form of exploitation of passengers would be tolerated. The Traffic Police also said that dangerous driving on the roads would also invite strict legal action, adding that one-wheeling and reckless driving would be sternly dealt with.
The Traffic Police also said that action would be taken against zigzag and overspeeding driving during the Eid traffic operations.
A complete Eid traffic plan has also been prepared by the Traffic Police to facilitate the flow of traffic in the city.
According to the plan, traffic staff would be posted at all major Eid congregation places and recreational spots along with extra staff at the cattle markets due to the heavy flow of people.
Traffic Police said special arrangements have been made to regulate heavy rush at major livestock markets, where dedicated duty squads will monitor traffic flow and prevent congestion.
