A woman was injured in an acid attack in Karachi’s Korangi Crossing area, with the victim accusing a neighbour of carrying out the assault after allegedly harassing her for a long time.

According to the victim, a man identified as Ali had been harassing her for quite some time, and she had lodged multiple complaints against him. She said that on June 21, when she stepped out of her house, the suspect allegedly threw acid on her and fled the scene.

The woman claimed that although an FIR had already been registered against the suspect in an earlier matter, police were not registering a separate case over the acid attack.

Following the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice and sought a report from the Karachi police chief.

The chief minister directed authorities to immediately arrest the suspect and ensure the victim is provided the best possible medical treatment and protection.
