Former captain Shahid Khan Afridi said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi should step down from his role, stating that he should focus on a single responsibility at a time.

Afridi’s remarks came amid rumors of Naqvi’s resignation, and he referred to the chairmanship as a “24/7 job.” He praised Naqvi as a hardworking individual but noted that “riding two horses” would prevent him from doing what he truly wants for the betterment of cricket.

Sources said that during the T20 World Cup in the United States in June, Mohsin Naqvi offered Shahid Afridi a job at the PCB, but Shahid Afridi apologised to him due to his busy schedule.

Earlier, the PCB claimed to have read reports of the chairman’s resignation on some media websites. The reports suggested that Naqvi was leaving the post of chairman PCB after being appointed as President Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

The cricket body decalred the reorts as “baseless.”

“There is no truth to the reports about Mr Naqvi’s resignation. He is performing his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket,” it said in a press release.

Notably, Naqvi, who has also been serving as Interior Minister since the arrival of the Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government, formally assumed the charge of ACC President a few days ago.

The official added that Naqvi holds dual roles as PCB Chairman and ACC President, stating that it's "not unusual", and that his effective time management would enable him to fulfil both responsibilities successfully.
