In a heartwarming gesture, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi gifted a mobile phone to a worker at Gaddafi Stadium, who was overjoyed to receive the present as he had never owned a phone.
Following the completion of renovations at the stadium, the PCB chairman invited the workers for a lunch to acknowledge their hard work in restoring the venue.
During the lunch on Friday, Naqvi inquired if any of the workers had made TikTok videos while working at the stadium. One worker replied that he couldn’t create TikToks because he didn’t have a phone.
In response, Naqvi immediately directed his staff to gift the worker a mobile phone. He also promised the workers tickets to watch the upcoming Pakistan vs New Zealand match at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday. “I have booked two enclosures for you,” he said.
The workers shared their experiences, revealing that they had worked long hours to complete the stadium renovations within just four months. One worker mentioned that he hadn’t been able to visit his daughter, who was hospitalised in Multan for cancer treatment, due to his work commitments.

The newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The inauguration ceremony was attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, cricketers, and other dignitaries.
During his address, Naqvi highlighted that the workers had worked tirelessly day and night to complete the stadium’s renovation in a record 117 days. He also acknowledged the Pakistan Army’s contribution to the project and thanked the Punjab government for its full cooperation in the reconstruction.

Naqvi further emphasised that the renovation target had been achieved ahead of the Champions Trophy, and many workers had not returned home for three months to ensure the project’s completion.
The ceremony, held in Lahore, was attended by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, provincial and federal ministers, cricketers, fans, and citizens.
The upgraded Gaddafi Stadium now features new LED light towers, modern screens, and new seating throughout the enclosures.
The remarkable transformation of the stadium was completed in a record 117 days, setting a new benchmark for large-scale renovation projects in Pakistan.
