A viral video sparked outrage on social media after two foreign women were seen mocking a niqabi woman at a restaurant in Dubai, prompting local authorities to take action.
The video showed one of the foreigners recording a man and a woman seated at a nearby table. The women were laughing and ridiculing the woman wearing a hijab and niqab, breaching her privacy.
The clip was shared on January 1 by the X account @RadioGenoa, with the caption, “European women are shocked by what they see.”
The account is known for sharing Islamophobic content aimed at spreading propaganda and inciting hatred against Muslims.
As the video gained traction, it ignited widespread anger among netizens, who condemned the foreigners' behavior.
Many highlighted that while women have the autonomy to choose whether to wear the hijab, mocking someone’s personal choices is unacceptable.
The foreigners faced heavy criticism online, with many calling for their identification and arrest.
“They won’t leave Muslims alone in countries where they are minorities or majorities. I hope Dubai Police take action to prevent them from inciting hatred in Dubai and stop them from transiting through the city,” one X user wrote.
After the video was widely shared, users tagged Dubai Police, urging them to intervene. In response, the police assured the public that “necessary measures” would be taken.
“Reminder: You have freedom in your countries, not in other countries. When you travel, respect the countries you visit and their people,” another X user commented.
Sharing their thoughts, one user, @ABF_binfahad, said, “Regardless, my opinion is that the niqab is not obligatory like the hijab. However, it is disrespectful for these foreigners to be in Dubai and mock Arabs in such a cowardly manner.”
