An elderly couple in India recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary with a formal nuptial ceremony decades after eloping. Their unique love story and celebration went viral on social media.

The couple, Harsh and Murudu, were surrounded by family members as they renewed their vows in a lavish ceremony. Pictures of the event, shared widely online, showcased the joyous occasion

Indian designer Kanku Thapa posted images of the wedding on social media, featuring Harsh adorned with a traditional turban and necklace, while Murudu radiated happiness in a stunning red saree.

The couple in their 80s looked absolutely radiant together at their wedding event arranged by their grandchildren. 

Harsh and Murudu hail from Gujarat and fell in love in the 1960s—a time when love marriages were rare and often unthinkable. They first met in school, where their affection grew through exchanged letters. However, when their families discovered their relationship, they strongly opposed it.

Facing immense family pressure, the couple decided to elope. At the time, Murudu wore a simple saree worth just Rs 10 as she embarked on a lifelong journey with Harsh.

Now, 64 years later, their family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren, honored their love with a grand wedding celebration, turning their decades-old elopement into an unforgettable family affair.
