Following Yahya Sinwar’s death, pro-Palestinian supporters hailed his resistance against the Israeli occupation until his final breath, when the IDF had surrounded him.
The Israeli army killed Hamas' political bureau chief Yahya Sinwar on Wednesday during a military operation in Rafah, with the IDF confirming his death after DNA testing.
Described as the mastermind of the October 7, 2023, attacks, Israeli authorities had been hunting him for a year since their military offensive began on Gaza, claiming that he was hiding in a tunnel surrounded by hostages and Hamas fighters.
However, the videos and pictures released by the IDF showing the final moments of the Hamas chief depict him wearing a military vest to fight the enemy, which political analysts said contradicts Israeli claims that he was hiding in a tunnel.
Pro-Palestinian supporters called the 62-year-old Hamas leader a hero against the Israeli occupation and shared his old interviews where he expressed his determination to resist the enemy.
“I say that the greatest gift the enemy and the occupation can give me, is to assassinate me,” he had said during a media briefing in 2021.
Many said that by releasing Sinwar’s last footage, where he was seen attempting to shoot down an Israeli drone with a stick, only strengthened his image as a hero, showcasing his resilience and perseverance during his struggle.
"By publishing the final moments of martyr Yahya Sinwar, Zionists have inadvertently revealed why they and their allies can never defeat the Axis of Resistance," Iranian analyst Seyed Mohammad Marandi said on X.

Palestinian affairs correspondent and analyst for Israeli newx channel Kan 11, Elior Levy also explained Sinwar as "a figure much bigger than himself."

Dropping the video of Sinwar with an amputated arm fighting to his last breath is such a self own. I’ve never seen a leader with more courage and steadfastness making more of a sacrifice for their people. What a giant.
