Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander, General Esmail Qaani, who was reported to have been assassinated in recent Israeli attacks, appeared alive in public during celebrations of Iran’s self-proclaimed victory following a ceasefire with Israel.

Iranian media shared multiple videos showing General Qaani being warmly received by crowds in Tehran during the event. Tasnim News Agency posted on X stated, “Commander Qaani attends today’s gathering of the people of Tehran following Operation Divine Victory.”

Another Iranian outlet, Press TV, also published footage with the caption,“Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, Commander of the IRGC Quds Force, was warmly received by a jubilant crowd in Tehran during victory celebrations over the Zionist (Israeli) regime.”

While the Times of Israel noted that the Israeli military had not officially claimed responsibility for General Qaani’s death, the New York Times previously reported that he may have been among high-profile Iranian targets killed during the ongoing Israeli offensive.

Israel launched a series of strikes on Iranian territory onJune 13, and killed several IRGC commanders, nuclear scientists, and military installations. The attacks continued until a ceasefire was reached on June 24 following diplomatic intervention by US President Donald Trump.

According to Iranian officials, the 12-day conflict has resulted in at least 610 deaths and over 4,700 injuries. Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour stated on X that hospitals have witnessed “some of the most heartbreaking scenes in recent memory.”

Kermanpour added that a total of 5,536 citizens were directly affected by the Israeli strikes, with 971 patients still receiving treatment in hospitals. Among the casualties are 25 medical staff, while nine ambulances were destroyed, seven hospitals bombed, and four health centers damaged during the attacks.
