At least 606 people have been killed in Iran since Israel launched its military offensive on June 13, according to figures released by the Iranian health ministry during a crisis meeting in Tehran on Tuesday.

The ministry reported that 107 people were killed on Monday alone, making it the deadliest day of the conflict so far. It also noted that 95% of the victims died at the scene of the attacks, highlighting the intensity of the strikes.

The updated death toll comes hours after President Donald Trump announced that Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire, brokered with US mediation. Speaking from Air Force One en route to the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump declared: “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!”

Trump also claimed that US airstrikes had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities, a reference to  attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan over the weekend.

However, international experts, including the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), have urged caution, saying the extent of damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and the whereabouts of enriched uranium stockpiles remains unclear.

The ceasefire announcement briefly calmed global markets, including a sharp drop in oil prices, as fears of a broader regional war began to ease. However, tensions remain high, and the humanitarian toll inside Iran continues to rise as authorities work to recover bodies from targeted areas and provide medical care to the wounded.
