In a shocking incident, a two-and-a-half-year child has been booked over charges of electricity theft, according to local media reports.
The case was registered on the complaint of Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) against a two-and-a-half-year-old child, Bhooral, in the district of Qamber-Shahdadkot district in Sindh.
The police and the SEPCO authorities were worried after knowing the age of the boy, whom they booked over electricity theft charges.
The police have not been able to decide whether to arrest the accused or cancel the case so far. According to the FIR (First Information Report), electricity theft was happening in the house of Bhooral in the village Khadim Selro, and the connection was cut off.
Upon writing a letter, the police registered the case and informed the SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) Shahdadkot.
It is to be noted that the caretaker federal government government has initiated a crackdown against electricity theft across the country, resulting in several cases and arrests so far.
Previously, former member of the assembly from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Rukhsana Kausar, was caught in electricity theft, and LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company) had filed a case against her.
The LESCO spokesperson had informed that Rukhsana Kausar was fined with a penalty of five hundred seventy-two thousand rupees.
