Saudis bring cooking pots for unlimited popcorn deal at cinema

People in Saudi Arabia took full advantage of a cinema’s offer of unlimited popcorn for just 30 Riyals.
Several videos went viral, showing long queues at VOX Cinemas, with people bringing oversized cooking pots and even drums, showing just how far some would go to enjoy the unlimited popcorn offer.

Cinemas reopened in Saudi Arabia in 2018 after a 35-year ban, ending a prohibition rooted in the belief that such entertainment venues contradicted Islamic teachings as interpreted by the Kingdom's authorities.

Saudi Arabia has embraced a broader range of entertainment options, including fashion shows and award ceremonies, taking place across the country.
All of these measures are part of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the country's income sources by moving away from dependence on oil.
