Electricity to cost more as Nepra okays Rs2.06 per unit hike

Electricity prices have been increased for consumers under monthly and quarterly adjustments.

According to details, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has issued a notification. Under the monthly adjustment, electricity prices have been raised by Rs2.06 per unit, which will be reflected in consumers’ September bills.

The July fuel price adjustment will place an additional burden of Rs33 billion on consumers.

Nepra has also approved a 52-paisa-per-unit increase under the quarterly adjustment for April-June 2026.

The quarterly adjustment decision has been forwarded to the federal government and will apply from September to November 2026, including to K-Electric consumers.

According to Nepra, the quarterly adjustment will impose an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on consumers.
