The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing manual income tax returns until November 30, as part of efforts to facilitate taxpayers transitioning to Pakistan’s new digital tax system.
An FBR spokesperson said the decision was made to support a small number of taxpayers who may still face difficulties adapting to online filing. “To ensure a smooth transition to the online system, the FBR has discontinued manual return filings from Tax Year 2024. However, recognising that some individuals may encounter challenges, the board has decided to provide special facilitation,” the spokesperson stated.
According to a formal notification, the extension has been granted under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
To assist manual filers, the FBR will establish dedicated facilitation cells in every tax office. These cells will provide free legal and technical assistance, including help with registration and online return filing.
“Manual filers are encouraged to visit their respective tax offices, where they will receive free assistance for registration and online filing. Those needing legal guidance will be provided support through FBR field offices,” the spokesperson added.
