The federal government on Friday increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by up to Rs4.80 per litre, citing changes in international oil prices following renewed tensions in the Persian Gulf.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs3.66 per litre to Rs335.18, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs4.80 per litre to Rs383.46.
The revised prices will remain in effect for the next three days. The government is currently collecting Rs110 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs96 per litre on diesel.
Despite the latest increase, diesel prices remain well below the record Rs520.35 per litre reached on April 3. Petrol had also hit an all-time high of Rs458.41 per litre on the same date after rising sharply during the US-Iran conflict earlier this year.
