Petrol up Rs20.81, diesel Rs55.36 per litre since govt adopted daily fuel pricing

Petrol prices have increased by Rs20.81 per litre, while high-speed diesel has become Rs55.36 per litre more expensive since the government introduced its daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

According to the Petroleum Division, fuel prices were first revised under the new system on July 18, when petrol was increased by Rs5.44 per litre and diesel by Rs31.05 per litre.

In the next revision on July 21, petrol was reduced by Rs0.35 per litre, while diesel was increased by Rs5.71 per litre.

For July 22, petrol prices rose by Rs4.93 per litre and diesel by Rs7.15 per litre. On July 23, petrol was increased by Rs6.39 per litre and diesel by Rs7.83 per litre.

In the latest revision for July 24, petrol prices were raised by Rs4.40 per litre, while diesel increased by Rs3.62 per litre.

The federal cabinet approved the daily petroleum pricing mechanism on July 17, under which the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determines petrol and diesel prices every day based on trends in the international market.
