Claim:

Social media platforms were taken by storm about an alleged assassination attempt targeting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. 

The rumors, which quickly spread on X (formerly Twitter), claimed that a heavily armed security convoy, supposedly transporting the Saudi crown prince and other top officials, had been attacked in Riyadh.

Fact:

BBC journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh debunked these claims as “completely baseless.” In a post on X, he addressed the issue, stating, “A totally baseless claim about an assassination attempt on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is going viral on X after being shared by fake osint accounts and well-known misinformation spreaders seeking engagement. There’s zero evidence for the claim,” effectively putting an end to the speculation.
