Bollywood actor Aamir Khan recently revealed that former Pakistani batsman Javed Miandad’s iconic last-ball six against India in Sharjah spoiled what was supposed to be the happiest day of his life, his wedding day. Aamir had been hoping that his special day would be made even more memorable by an Indian victory, but Miandad's masterstroke turned the game on its head.

During a candid interview with an Indian digital platform, Aamir shared that in 1986, at the age of 21, he married Reena Dutta through a court marriage, without informing their families. “We had decided that the marriage would remain on paper and that we’d reveal it to our families and celebrate it properly after a few years,” he said.

He further explained, “Reena and I agreed to keep it a secret. On March 15, 1986, I filed a legal notice, which matured on April 15 or 16. Since a weekend followed, we finally got married on April 18.”

Aamir recalled, “It was the same day that Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad hit that legendary six on the last ball against India in Sharjah. We got married that very day.”

He continued, “After the court marriage, Reena and I returned to our homes. We were both nervous, thinking our families would ask where we had gone and what we’d say, but no one asked anything because everyone was glued to the television, watching the India-Pakistan match.”

Aamir added, “When I got home, no one even noticed I had just gotten married. I quietly joined them to watch the match. India was winning, and I was thrilled. I thought, ‘Wow, it’s my wedding day and we’re winning against Pakistan, this is perfect.’ I was clapping and celebrating. But then, out of nowhere, Miandad hit that six on the final ball, and we lost. I went into depression.”

A few years later, Aamir met Miandad on a flight and couldn't help but bring it up. “I told him, ‘Javed Bhai, what you did that day wasn’t right. You ruined my wedding day!’” Aamir said with a laugh.
