The online world is a challenging space for Pakistani celebrities, however, female actors frequently face a disproportionate amount of negativity, particularly regarding their fashion choices.

Humaima Malick who is no stranger to criticism for her bold fashion choices, recently hit back at trolls who involved her brother, Feroze Khan, in comments on her social media posts in which she is wearing bold outfits.

Malick emphasised that such instances of bullying deeply disturbed her, expressing, "People are always ready for criticism."

“Ask your brother to see your pictures,” the ‘Maula Jutt’ actor shared the insensitive comments she received on her pictures as she appeared in a recent podcast.

She acknowledged that her brother is religious but emphasised that "we are two separate individuals and responsible for our own actions separately.”

The ‘Bol’ actor furthered on, “People should realise that they are only typing on their keyboards behind the screens. What kind of thinking and ignorance are they filled with that they resort to swearing at someone?

“It's indicative of a frustrated nation, and ironically, when the same critics bump into me, they ask for pictures,”  she said.

Expressing frustration, she pointed out that despite not wearing as revealing clothes as some other female actors, or engaging in actions that provoke negativity, she seems to attract more criticism. She emphasised that dragging her brother, who holds different beliefs, into the criticism is unfair and unnecessary.

Highlighting the impact of dramas on depicting women negatively, the ‘Jindi’ actor questioned, “Why are women shown on TV enduring abuse, crying, seeking attention from their husbands?” Yet, “whenever we portray a strong-headed, independent woman, we attract unwarranted criticism.

“Dramas feed this narrative,” she added.

Humaima maintained that although she's developed a thicker skin, she still feels helpless when people are overly obsessed with her.
