Indian Punjabi music sensation and actor Diljit Dosanjh faced backlash from several Indian film bodies, which threatened to boycott him for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his latest film, Sardaar Ji 3.
However, an old interview of the singer-turned-actor resurfaced and went viral, in which he clearly stated that he does not care even "a little" about getting work in Bollywood.
Facing backlash from certain quarters, Diljit has also received praise for standing firm and refusing to bow to pressure demanding Hania’s removal from the film, even as political tensions between India and Pakistan escalated during the project’s shooting phase.
In a recent interview, Diljit clarified that the situation between the two countries was stable when the film was initially being planned. The conflict only escalated midway through filming when India attacked Pakistan after Pahalgam incident in IIOJK.

The Naina vocalist maintained that worsening bilateral relations were beyond his control.
Despite his explanation, several Indian film bodies branded him a “traitor” and called for a complete boycott of his films and concerts. Some even threatened that he would no longer be allowed to perform in India.
While Diljit has yet to directly respond to the recent criticism, a video clip from his past interview went viral online. In it, he said “I don’t want to become a big name in Bollywood. I want to focus on music. I do what I love without needing anyone’s permission, not from Bollywood, not from any superstar.”
He firmly added, “I don’t care even a bit if I don’t get work in Bollywood.”
