Renowned singer and actor Farhan Saeed believes that the ban on Pakistani dramas in India has hurt Indian audiences more than Pakistani artists, as they are now deprived of quality content.
In a recent interview with Fuchsia Magazine alongside actress Kinza Hashmi, the duo candidly discussed various topics, including their upcoming drama and cross-border artistic ties.
Speaking about his new serial Shireen Farhad, Saeed described it as a love story set in the 1970s. “It portrays the kind of love that existed in that era. Today’s youth might find it surprising, but those who lived through that time will find the story very relatable,” he said.

Addressing the impact of the Indian ban on Pakistani content, Saeed asserted that it has had little effect on the local entertainment industry. “I think our views might be affected by this, but it doesn’t matter because we are already 26 Crore people who love dramas. We didn’t start making them for Indian audiences; we have been producing dramas for years since PTV began..,” he explained.
He further emphasised that Pakistani dramas have existed long before they gained viewership in India. “Naturally, if you get used to a certain audience size, a decline feels disappointing, but it’s definitely not our loss, it’s theirs.”
Commenting on audience preferences, Saeed said Indian viewers appreciated Pakistani dramas for their strong storytelling. “They don't watch our films because they aren’t as good, but they watch our dramas because of their quality content.”
When asked about the behavior of Indian actors during times of Indo-Pak tensions, Saeed responded, “I am not disappointed by Indian actors, I would only be disappointed in someone who doesn’t stand by their country,” adding that he, too, would always support Pakistan because it is his homeland. However, he clarified that while expressing love for his own country, he would never demean India.

“I know Indians very well, I have lived among them, and they’re not like this. But they’re no longer Indians; they’ve become 'Modians',” he remarked, implying that the rise of Modi’s extremist ideology has changed the nation's character.
He added that the level of hate is overwhelming, but firmly reiterated that he will always stand by his country.
However, Saeed did express disappointment in the Indian media, accusing it of distorting public opinion. “I am very disappointed with the Indian media,” he stated.
