Ramadan is here, and food becomes a central part of this holy month marked by suhoor and iftar traditions. Families enjoy preparing delicious dishes to share at Iftar.
But planning a daily menu can be tricky, especially when you have both kids and adults to please. That's where handy snacks come in. They are a lifesaver for satisfying cravings and keeping everyone happy.
Since appetizers reign supreme at the iftar table, Mini Shawarma Calzones are the perfect solution for the busy Ramadan season.
The tempting snack is a fusion starter. Calzones are Italian oven-baked pastry filled with delicious Lebanese shawarma stuffing.
Let's dive into the recipe:
Oil 1 Tablespoon (tbsp)
Onion (finely chopped) 1 Medium
Minced beef 300 gram
Tomato ketchup 6 tbsp
Mozzarella cheese grated 12 tbsp
Pizza dough 600 gram
Shawarma Masala:
Salt, pepper, yogurt, paprika, cayenne powder, ground cinnamon, and cumin powder. Adjust the quantities to suit your taste buds.
Instructions:
Step 1:
Heat some oil in a pan and saute onions until they soften up. Add the ground beef and Shawarma Masala. Cook the mixture together thoroughly. Take the pan off the heat and add tomato ketchup.
Step 2:
Cut your pizza dough into 12 balls. Roll each ball out flat to about the size of a coin. Scoop a spoonful of meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Sprinkle some cheese on top of the meat. Fold the dough in half over the filling, like a taco. Use a fork to press down and seal the edges tightly.
Step 3:
Bake them in a preheated oven until cooked through and golden brown. You can also deep fry them. No matter which method you choose, enjoy them hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
