Having faced trolling on social media, Mehar Bano hit back at critics, saying that the negativity they spew is a reflection of their own mindset.
Speaking in a talk show, the ‘Churails’ actor candidly opened up about how she navigates the online vitriol.
When asked about cyberbullying attempts directed at her through inappropriate content posted on social media, Mehar Bano said, “I can't prevent social media pages from reposting my content as they share what I post on my official account. I cannot control their commentary on me. I choose not to respond to videos with peculiar thumbnails or unfavorable captions."
She emphasised that the hate she receives online stems from individuals who spread it, and she has grown a thick skin against such negativity, adding that she won't prevent anyone from spreading hate towards her, as their actions are visible to the entire world.
“This merely mirrors our society, revealing their mindset. It reflects poorly on them, not on me. The world is witnessing their actions, and I won't intervene," she said.
Meher Bano also addressed her controversial remarks at Aurat March in 2021, where she openly voiced support for same-sex marriages.
Reiterating her stance, she maintained that she continues to uphold what she said earlier.
Unfazed by threats that ensued after the video of her statement at Aurat March went viral on social media, Mehar Bano remains steadfast in articualting her opinion.
The 'Balaa' actor further said that her statement might have been manipulated or altered by those who disseminated it on social media, resulting in a distorted or misconstrued interpretation of her original words.
Mehar Bano's notable acting roles include her portrayal of Umama in Daagh, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Lux Style Awards. She also captivated audiences with her performances as Batool in Balaa (2018) and Anoushay in Mere Paas Tum Ho (2019).
