The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday dismissed YouTuber Rajab Butt's petition seeking to quash an FIR registered against him in Karachi for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, while directing police to complete the investigation without delay.

In its written order, the court instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh to ensure that the investigation is completed as expeditiously as possible.

The court further directed that if the investigating officer finds no evidence against the accused, a report should immediately be submitted to the relevant trial court in accordance with the law.

The high court ordered that its directions be implemented within three weeks. The verdict was announced after the court had earlier reserved its judgment following the completion of arguments by both sides.

Rajab Butt is facing an FIR registered at Haideri Market Police Station in Karachi on a complaint filed by advocate Riaz Solangi.
