Renowned model Nadia Hussain questioned the government's stance on the alleged rape incident at Punjab College, asking why authorities were issuing so many explanations if the case lacked substantial evidence.
Previously, Nadia Hussain supported the initial investigation by ASP Sheherbano Naqvi and the Punjab Police into the case, which concluded that the allegations of sexual assault with a female student were based on false information.
However, Nadia was compelled to reconsider the police's interpretation of the incident after multiple authorities in Punjab issued statements regarding the controversy.
These statements appeared to her as a hasty attempt by the government to suppress the issue.
She took to her Instagram account and said, “The news from the PGC rape incident is shocking and disturbing.”
The Benaam actor said "this was the first time the government has shown such haste in solving a case," with ASP Sheherbano first issuing a statement, followed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the college principal holding press conferences.
She questioned why such swift action is not taken and rapists are not arrested immediately when sexual assault actually occurs, while the government is making all efforts to label rape as fake news.
Nadia said she doesn't feel safe as a woman in the country, adding, “It was a mistake on my part to believe ASP Sheherbano.”
