Ranbir Kapoor in legal trouble for ‘hurting sentiments’ in viral Christmas video

Indian police registered a complaint on Wednesday against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family members after a video of their Christamas celebration went viral on social media. The complaint alleges that the video's content offended religious sentiments.

Accusing Ranbir Kapoor of religious insensitivity, Sanjay Tiwari, represented by lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, filed a complaint with Ghatkopar police in Mumbai.

His claim centres on a video where Ranbir pours liquor on a cake, sets it alight, and exclaims "Jai Mata Di."

As of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged with the police regarding this matter.

In Hinduism, fire god is invoked before invoking other deities, but Ranbir Kapoor and his family members deliberately used intoxicants while celebrating the festival of another religion and chanted “Jai Mata Di”, the complaint said.

Ranbir Kapoor joined his extended family for the annual Christmas gathering at Kunal Kapoor's residence.

The Kapoor family has not yet publicly addressed the allegations mentioned in the complaint.
