Renowned rapper Talha Anjum, who enjoys a strong cross-border fanbase, landed in hot waters after a video of him waving the Indian flag during a concert in Nepal went viral on social media. The incident sparked widespread debate, with many fans expressing disappointment over his gesture.
During his performance, Anjum was seen enthusiastically waving the Indian flag on stage. What he intended as a moment of crowd engagement instead sparked strong criticism, with netizens arguing that waving the flag of a country with which Pakistan has fought wars was inappropriate.
One Instagram user commented, “He can do anything for views, and we are giving him more attention.” Another wrote, “When you need money desperately, you can do anything.”
Amid the mounting backlash, Talha Anjum issued a statement, making it clear that he would not bow to criticism.
Taking to X, he wrote: “My heart has no place for hate. My art has no borders. If me raising an Indian flag sparks controversy, so be it. I’ll do it again. I will never care about the media, the war-mongering governments, and their propaganda. Urdu rap is and will always be borderless.”

The debate continues online, with many questioning whether the gesture was appropriate given India’s repeated threats against Pakistan.
While Anjum described the act as an attempt to connect with a diverse audience and make them feel included, critics claim it was merely an effort to expand his fanbase and gain more attention.
