Renowned actor Momina Iqbal shared her views on the recent vandalism at a thrift store in Karachi, stating that amid rising inflation, people are left with few options to meet their needs.

Taking to Instagram, the actress stated that the thrift store's announcement of extremely low clothing prices encouraged people to rush into the shop.

"Even bread costs more than Rs50, yet the store announced offering clothes for only Rs50," she said.

"They played on the emotions of financially distressed people," she added.

The Samjhota actor went on to say that "those who struggle to afford food for their families and can't even consider buying new clothes would undoubtedly rush to take advantage of such low-priced clothing offers for their loved ones."

She criticised the state of disorder in society "where politicians flaunt their extravagant lifestyles and influential people commit crimes with impunity."

"There is no value for human life and dignity of the common people, while those in power have become tyrants in their domains," Momina lamented.

On August 30, throngs of people stormed Karachi's Dream Bazaar Mall on its opening day in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. The shopping center was dubbed 'Pakistan's biggest thrift store.'

The mall was established by a Pakistani businessman living abroad. During its pre-opening marketing campaign, the owners advertised clothes at the lowest prices to entice customers.

However, when it opened to the public, crowds of people stormed in, looting and vandalising the mall.
