Pakistani actress Ushna Shah has revealed that she is struggling with prosopagnosia, commonly known as face blindness, a neurological condition that affects a person's ability to recognise faces.
The renowned host took to Instagram story to share her medical condition with her fans with a heartfelt note.
"I'd like to take a moment to share some insight into a condition known as prosopagnosia, or face blindness, which affects a person's ability to recognize faces," her story read.
The Ghair star revealed that over time, the condition has become more prominent for her that she often does not "immediately recognise individuals, even in familiar settings."
"What was once a joke has evolved into a frustrating experience over the years, and I am sure I am not alone."
Shah expressed her concern that people might misinterpret her inability to recognise faces as a lack of care or recognition.
"If there's ever an interaction where I don't recognise you, please understand it's due to this condition, not a lack of recognition or care."
By sharing her experience, the Aakhir Kab Tak actress aims to raise awareness about prosopagnosia and its impact on daily interactions.
"I hope this encourages more conversations around prosopagnosia and how it can impact daily interactions. Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to foster openness and empathy," she concluded.
