Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has called for a “political ceasefire” within Pakistan, urging the government to release PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the spirit of national unity.

Speaking to Geo News after the announcement of a ceasefire between Pakistan and India following days of cross-border escalation, Gohar welcomed the development and said:

“If we can pursue peace with a hostile neighbour, we must also pursue reconciliation at home. It’s time for a political ceasefire.”

Barrister Gohar emphasized that political stability is as vital as military peace and that the country cannot move forward unless political victimization ends and democratic space is restored.

He called the continued detention of Imran Khan unjust and politically motivated, adding that true national unity requires respecting political differences and allowing fair democratic processes to unfold.
