The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Customs Enforcement Collectorate in Karachi, in collaboration with the Military Intelligence Wing, has seized 11,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel and a dumper truck near Moachko on the RCD Highway.

The operation was initiated based on a tip-off received by Basit Maqsood Abbasi, the Collector of Customs Enforcement in Karachi.

The ASO team raided a petrol pump on the RCD Highway, where they recovered 11,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel valued at approximately Rs3 million.

Additionally, the dumper truck seized is estimated to be worth Rs10 million, bringing the total value of the seizure to Rs13 million.

Both the smuggled diesel and the dumper truck have been transferred to the ASO warehouse.

A case has been registered under the Customs Act, and further investigations are ongoing.

While local refineries and oil marketing companies complain about falling capacity utilisation and sales, around 10 million litres of Iranian petrol and diesel are smuggled into Pakistan every day through land and sea routes, causing a more than Rs227 billion annual revenue loss.

It was revealed in a joint report by intelligence agencies to the Petroleum Division.
