10 killed as building collapses in Lahore

At least 10 people lost their lives and six others were injured after a three-storey residential building collapsed in Lahore’s Baghbanpura area according to Rescue 1122 officials. 

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmad said 16 people were recovered from the debris. Six victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while 10 others were shifted to nearby hospitals.

Four of the injured later succumbed to their wounds, raising the death toll to 10.

The deceased include women, children and elderly members of the same extended family. According to rescue officials, the victims have been identified as Shahida Bibi, Samina Bibi, Mujahid, Hamid, Komal, Hasnain, Neelam, Ahad Ali, Ayesha Bibi and Naseem Bibi. 

Police and district administration officials visited the site, while Punjab Assembly member Malik Waheed assured affected families that all possible support would be provided. 

Following that incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered safety audits of vulnerable buildings.
