The jail authorities have refused to shift Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, to Adiala jail from the Bani Gala sub-jail, citing 'lack of space'.

Bushra Bibi was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case and She is currently serving her sentence at Bani Gala, which has been declared a sub-jail by the authorities.

Islamabad High Court's (IHC) Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the petition filed by the spouse of the former prime minister.

During the hearing, Superintendent Adiala Jail submitted his report in court, declining Buhsra's request.

In a report, the authorities said that they could not move Bushra Bibi to Adiala jail due to lack of space as "250 women are already serving their sentence in Rawalpindi jail".

However, the Islamabad Chief Commissioner has not submitted his response to the court over Bushra Bibi's request.

Later, the (IHC) adjourned the hearing for two weeks, directing ICC to submit his report in due time.

Earlier this month, Imran Khan''s wife, through her counsel, filed petition in IHC, saying 'as a spouse of the leader of Pakistan’s most prominent political party, Bushra Bibi, like any ordinary activist, wishes to serve her sentence in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.'

On the other hand, the former first lady's lawyer claimed that "she had been given a acid-like substance in her food.

Following the claims, the PTI demanded immediate medical examination of the party founder’s spouse.
