An explosion targeting a gas pipeline was reported on Bedar Road, within the jurisdiction of City Police Station in Dera Murad Jamali, Balochistan, where unidentified miscreants attempted to sabotage the infrastructure using explosive material.
According to police officials, approximately 8 to 10 kilograms of explosives had been planted underground and were detonated, partially damaging an old and inactive pipeline.
Fortunately, the main 18-inch diameter gas pipeline supplying Quetta remained completely intact, avoiding a major catastrophe.
Police confirmed that the damaged pipeline was non-operational and contained no gas at the time of the blast, thereby minimizing the risk of a larger explosion.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghulam Sarwar Bheo of Naseerabad district promptly arrived at the scene.
