A dispute over business finances has emerged as a possible line of inquiry in the investigation into the killing of Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali.
Mir’s father alleges that his son’s longtime business partner and the partner’s brother may have information relevant to the case.
Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, claimed that his son had discussed disagreements with his business partners over investments and the pricing of raw materials supplied to Wafflix branches.
He alleged that the material was purchased through the departmental store of the partner’s brother and that Raza had raised concerns over alleged overbilling.
Hussain said Raza and his business partner Ahmed had been friends since Grade I and had maintained a relationship spanning 21 years. He alleged, however, that the two brothers stopped communicating with the family following Raza’s death.
Ahmed has denied the allegations and has obtained pre-arrest bail. A Karachi court has since directed him to join the investigation and barred him from leaving the city without permission while the probe continues.
Raza’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, has also raised questions about the business relationship and the information provided to investigators.
