The federal government has formally instructed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) officials to avoid using state resources to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest in Islamabad on November 24.
In a letter to KP Chief Secretary, the Ministry of Interior stressed the importance of neutrality, directing that no government funds, personnel, or equipment should be employed for the political event.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has intensified measures to manage potential disruptions from the demonstration, deploying containers across key routes in Rawalpindi.
Major blockade points, such as Fawara Chowk and Liaquat Road, have been partially sealed, with additional containers placed on key roads as precautionary barriers.
Rawalpindi police have implemented a robust security plan, involving over 4,500 officers stationed at 47 strategic locations and 34 additional checkpoints in and around the Cantonment area.
The steps aim to ensure order, prevent unrest, and mitigate the protest's impact on local communities.
The federal government’s directive highlights a commitment to maintaining a distinction between state resources and politics.
