Police have identified two men who escaped after abandoning the lifeless body of an 8-year-old boy at the emergency ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

According to DIG South Asad Raza, the two men were identified with the help of CCTV footage. He said the investigation into the incident revealed that the child died in a road mishap.

The police officer explained that the two men were travelling in a car when the child emerged in front of their vehicle on Korangi Road, resulting in a traffic accident. Subsequently, they put the child into their vehicle and rushed to Jinnah Hospital.

Unfortunately, the child died before reaching the hospital, Raza said, adding that the deceased's family has refused to pursue any legal action against the men.

Furthermore, he said the boy faced sexual abuse in the past and the perpetrators would be determined once his DNA report is recieved.

Earlier, police surgeon Dr Summaiya Tariq had confirmed that the child had been tortured and sexually abused before his death.

She added that samples had been collected from the body for DNA profiling.
