'End personal disputes and focus on movement', Imran tells party leaders

PTI founder Imran Khan has called on party members to put aside personal differences and focus on the party’s anti-government movement amid growing signs of internal discord following a recent meeting in Lahore.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the former prime minister at Adiala Jail on Tuesday, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan said he had conveyed two clear messages. According to her, Imran viewed the controversy surrounding the Lahore gathering as a deliberate attempt to create discord within the party.

“Differences are being deliberately created over the gathering held in Lahore,” she quoted him as saying. “End personal disputes and focus completely on the movement.”

She also conveyed Imran’s serious concerns about the conditions of his imprisonment, claiming that both he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were being subjected to mistreatment.

“He believes their basic human rights are being violated by the jail superintendent and another officer,” she said. “He has demanded accountability for the treatment he has endured, which he says is being carried out on the instructions of a single individual.”

Aleema further noted that Imran expressed satisfaction over the turnout of 300 PTI parliamentarians at the Lahore meeting but issued a stern warning to those attempting to stir division. “He said that while he is behind bars, anyone working to split the party from outside will be personally held responsible,” she added.

“Our family has remained committed throughout the past two years of his imprisonment,” Aleema said. “We stand by the party's leadership and decisions, and the time has come to focus on securing his release and ending the degrading treatment he is facing in jail.”
