The Financial Times included Pakistan in its list of "50 holidays to take in 2025," praising the breathtaking mountainous scenery that offers visitors stunning views.
According to the British newspaper, Gilgit-Baltistan is becoming increasingly popular among tourists due to improved security, easier accessibility, and enhanced accommodation facilities.
The report highlighted Gilgit-Baltistan's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, making it an ideal destination for adventure enthusiasts.
From the majestic Nanga Parbat to the picturesque Hunza Valley, the region boasts five of the world’s 14 highest peaks, including K2, the second-highest mountain globally, known as the most challenging and dangerous to climb.
The newspaper also noted that Pakistan introduced online visa services for citizens of over 120 countries in August 2024 and launched 14-day group tours.
These tours focus on the region’s culture, history, and landscapes, featuring six days of trekking to offer a deeper connection with the area’s beauty.
Gilgit-Baltistan, once a hidden gem, was named the world's top travel destination for 2025 by American broadcaster, CNN, finally putting this breathtaking region on the global tourism map.
GB's breathtaking landscapes, including the longest mountain range and serene lakes, are already popular among domestic tourists. This international recognition by CNN is expected to increase its appeal to foreign visitors.
This recognition is a testament to Pakistan’s efforts to promote tourism in the region.
An official said that GB is the favourite place for climbers in the world. In 2024, at least 1,700 climbers submitted climbing applications, of which 175 wanted to climb the summit of K2 in the summer.
