Five bodies found stuck at Sukkur barrage gates as water level rises

Five unidentified bodies were found stuck at various gates of the Sukkur Barrage on Tuesday amid rising water level, according to rescue officials.

Divers from rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and managed to recover three of the bodies, while efforts to retrieve the remaining two are still underway.

Rescue official said that such incidents are common during this season, as bodies of people who drown in upstream areas often drift downstream and get trapped at the gates of the barrage.

In most cases, the bodies remain unidentified and are often found in a decomposed state.

Following legal formalities, all recovered bodies have been shifted to the Edhi morgue, officials confirmed.
