Caretaker IT Minister Dr Umar Saif and Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed jointly launched a mobile app digitising Hajj operations for pilgrims.
The app developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB) enables pilgrims to register through the OTP received via SMS.
Pilgrims will receive a unique ID, consisting of their CNIC and application number. The application grants users access to instant updates regarding their Hajj application status, enabling them to check their Hajj training schedules, flight information, and current details about accommodations in Makkah and Madina.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs on November 27 opened the registration for Hajj 2024 under the government scheme and the process was set to continue till December 12.
However, due to a lukewarm response with only 2,800 applications having been received for the sponsorship scheme out of the allocated 25,000 seats, the deadline for the submission of applications was extended until December 22.
Pakistan has secured 179,000 Haj seats, with half reserved for private Hajj operators. Additionally, Pakistani pilgrims will receive free-of-cost mobile SIMs with roaming internet packages.
